Q.  Who would best qualify for the Fresh Start Program?
A.  Anyone with credit card debt regardless of how much or how little. If you are struggling to make payments, spending a large portion of your income on credit card payments or are receiving threatened collection calls or letters we can help.

Q.  Why is the Fresh Start Program better than filing bankruptcy? Doesn't that get rid of credit card debt?
No! Changes to the bankruptcy laws have made bankruptcy a bad option, now you still may have to pay a good portion of your credit cards even after you have filed bankruptcy. Secondly, the bankruptcy filing stays on your credit report for 10 years and you can't get rid of it, so the stigma of being "broke" follows you for a decade.

Q.  I see companies that offer to settle credit card debt for pennies on the dollar, isn't that a better option than filing bankruptcy?
Settlement is an even worse option. First you ned to have the money to pay the settlement amount. So if you settle a $10,000 account for $5,000, you need to have the FULL $5,000. Most people with a lot of credit card debt don't have that kind of extra cash just sitting around. Also with settlement you may end up owing income taxes on the debt that was forgiven! So you now owe the IRS instead of the credit card company- that is not a great trade!

Q.  Who created the Fresh Start Program?

Q.  How does the program work or what can I expect from it ?
A.  Our Fresh Start Program takes advantage of law passed by Congress to protect consumers from being financially destroyed by bill collectors and credit card companies. These laws allow consumers to take actions that result in lower payments and the stopping of collection calls and threatened letters. Our end objective is to lower your credit card payments using these laws to your advantage.

A.  It is helpful and suggested but not required.
